Breaking Barriers, Building Visibility:
BWBN’s Transformation Through Media

The Challenge

At the time (2022), Black Women Business Network (BWBN) was a new nonprofit, and they needed to raise their public profile to amplify their mission: helping Black women entrepreneurs break free from limiting beliefs and systemic barriers, realize their dreams, and build generational wealth.

Why They Came to Us

With no prior media training, no experience engaging the press, and no media contacts, BWBN struggled to gain visibility despite their powerful impact.

Knowing our track record in supporting marginalized communities with strategic media engagement, they came to us with one request: results.

Our Strategic Media Approach

We created a tailored three-pronged solution to amplify their voice:

  • Leadership Media Training: Coaching the Executive Director on interviews, storytelling, and staying on message with confidence.

  • Story Development & Pitching: Crafting compelling narratives of transformation from BWBN members that highlighted the “why” behind the mission.

  • Media Relationship Building: Connecting BWBN with influential outlets and pitching stories that resonated with both local and national press.

The Results

BWBN’s visibility skyrocketed, with media coverage that created lasting impact:

  • 4+ major online features including Global News, Daily Hive, and CBC Vancouver

  • 3 live TV interviews plus additional online articles

  • Thousands of dollars in Earned Media Value

  • New media sponsorships and stronger community partnerships

The Transformation

Today, BWBN’s Executive Director is a recognised, go-to media voice in her field. The organisation has leveraged this visibility to expand its reach, grow its network, and secure the support needed to continue breaking barriers for Black women entrepreneurs.

For BWBN, hope meant being heard.

Their journey proves that when the right stories are told with courage and strategy, they don’t just reach audiences — they inspire change.

BWBN’s transformation proves that visibility isn’t just about press — it’s about building trust, influence, and lasting impact.
